Description
Colin G. Johnson (1943-2021) was a British entomologist who specialised in beetles. He worked at the Department of Entomology at the Manchester Museum for more than 40 years, where he greatly contributed to the taxonomy of beetles (order Coleoptera), especially the difficult categories. Beginning his career as an assistant of Alan Brindle, Johnson worked his way up and retired in 2003 as the Keeper of the Entomology Department, but kept working on the taxonomic research. During his long career in the Manchester Museum, he had collaborated with coleopterists across the globe, exchanging specimens and adding a large collection. A 405 new taxa of beetles, including new genera and species, previously poorly represented and catalogued, was brought to sight because of him.
These glass slides were used for teaching and demonstrating entomological studies.
