Description Notes
Wooden, convex letter opener.
One side has a black handle, with a gold-coloured grid calendar of 1894, with days of the week, dates, and the months Jan - Jul. Rest is a map showing Europe, Africa and South America, with cable connections between cities shown in red and a box of text reading: 'THE BRAZILIAN SUBMARINE TELEGRAPH COMPANY'S SYSTEM & CONNECTIONS. Messages should be ordered "VIA EASTERN" these words being signalled free.'
Other side has black handle with gold-coloured grid calendar of 1984 showing months Jul - Dec. Rest is beige-coloured, advertising 'THE BRAZILIAN SUBMARINE TELEGRAPH COMPANY.
