Description Notes

Gunter quadrant, by John Checkley, English, 1691.

Brass Gunter quadrant mounted with pin-hole sights. Obverse side has circular calendar for the years 1691-1730, and an interior calendar square for the years 1692-1740.

On the reverse is a projection with 0-90° scale, a calendar, and a table of days with planetary hour symbols. Pin-hole sights are mounted at two of the corners, and there is an inscription to Thomas Burton, for whom the quadrant is made.
