Description Notes
Early electrical machine, 1830 c.
Early electrical machine with a three-legged stand. It appears to be a device for demonstrating how an electric-magnetic motor works. There is a circular screw at the end of each leg to adjust the height of the machine. The three legs meet in the middle with a red coloured centre stand. On top of the red centre stand the machine springs out with two pillars, looking like a dual candle holder. In the middle of each 'candle holder' there is a circular sink, for storing mercury. Each sink an attachment beneath it, with two screws attached onto it. This would be where the battery would hook onto the machine. One of the attachments' screws have fallen off. There is a little hole at the top of each 'candle holder'. Between the 'candle holders' there is an instrument in a 'T' shape, with wires wrapping around it. Below the 'T' shaped instrument there is a circular sink in the colour red.
