Description Notes
wooden box with push fit lid. Contains large hollow copper cylinder and smaller hollow copper cylinder. Latter has a cork bung through which are threaded two copper wires with brass terminals; the wires have a copper spring (heating element?) attached underneath. A third wire is pushed into the bung underneath and bent in a horizontal circle at the other end to act as a stirrer. Central hole for thermometer. The larger cylinder has remains of 3 brass hooks for support system for central chamber.
The Cavendish Laboratory's 1894 alphabetical catalogue of apparatus records that it had a worm inside.
