Description Notes

Quadrant, purportedly by Walter Hayes, English, 1726, but actually a fake.

Brass quadrant with 90˚ scale around curved side, marked every 10˚ and subdivided at every 1˚. There is a calendar which spans across both straight sides of the quadrant, with the months noted by their single-letter abbreviations, and subdivided into each day. An inscription at the top of the quadrant names Walter Hayes as the supposed maker, and 1726 as the supposed date of manufacture. The reverse side of the quadrant is blank.
