Description Notes
The volumes comprise product serial numbers, listed sequentially, for instruments produced, 1907 - 1978.
Information recorded in the first volume differs to the rest, where the product numbers do not begin with a 'C'. Volumes 2-22 all have products with serial numbers with a 'C' prefix.
The first volume lists name (and sometimes address) of customer, instrument(s) supplied, serial number, date order received and may also include date of delivery and invoice.
Volumes 2-19 list product serial numbers, product type, catalogue number, batch, date, quantity to be produced. From the product order cards it is clear that the batches of one type of product made and given consecutive serial numbers, does not always relate to one specific order but may be for many different orders and customers.
Volumes 20-22 contain more customer information, they are still in serial number order but provide information on products for each order.
22 volumes, archive references CSI/6883/1-22.
