Gunter quadrant for latitude 56˚ 30´ N. Sights on right hand side of obverse.
Obverse: Gunter projection for 56˚ 30´. Date scale set in 4 successive quadrant arcs above the projection, divided to named month, subdivided to 1 day. Associated declination scale divided [0] - 23˚ 30´, numbered by 10˚, subdivided to 15´ and to 5´ from 20˚. Degree scale along circumference divided 0 - 90˚, numbered by 10˚, subdivided to 15´. Above this a scale for a geometric square in the first 45˚ divided [0] - [10], numbered by 1, subdivided to 0.1; followed by scale of shadows divided 1 - 20, numbered by 1 with various subdivisions. Ecliptic arc divided to zodiac sign, subdivided to 1˚. Horizon arc divided [0] - [45˚], numbered by 10˚, subdivided to 1˚. Curved hour lines for winter and summer divided 6 - 12, 1 - 8, numbered by 1. Azimuth lines divided 10˚ - 130˚, numbered by 10˚. Positions of 6 stars marked as a - f on the projection with a table of their names and right ascensions given above the calendar arc (see history file).
