Description Notes
Brass with hinged cross-brace. Steel tips on callipers and cross-brace. Engraved decoration on hinge and cross-brace.
Obverse has scale marked ‘Calibre de Pieces’ and ‘Diamettre et poids des boulets’, divided 1/4 - 60 numbered 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2 ... 8, 10, 12, 15, 16, 18, 20, 24, 27, 30, 33, 36, 40, 45, 48, 50, 55, 60.
Reverse has scale of inches marked ‘Lignes Pouces de Roy’, divided [0] - 4 on one limb and [4] - 8 on second limb, numbered by 1; 0 - 1 and 7 - 8 subdivided to 1/12 inch.
