Description Notes
Steel beam and fittings; swan’s neck beam ends; self-locating knife edge and ring bearings with index pointer above (broken off and missing). ring bearing in gallows for tassel (missing). 1 silvered brass circular pan with concentric decoration; 1 triangular silvered brass pan with maker’s stamp (see catalogue card for depiction).
Fitted wooden box decorated with carved crest and tooled decoration. Upper layer fitted for 13 lozenge-shaped weights; slot for fractional weights (cover and weights missing) (there is a cover (replacement?), but no weights, 13-1-2000). Tray below for 18 lozenge-shaped weights (only 18 lozenge-shaped weights extant, top and bottom). Brass disc weight in centre of box; this large circular coin weight for the Lauptaler (German coin). Denominations painted over the slots. Hand-coloured paper label pasted inside box lid. Box lined with green velvet. Hook fastenings (hooks missing).
Condition: fair; incomplete (some weights missing).
