Description Notes

Beech (?) box fitted with compass and clinometer. Compass has paper card with 32-point rose and degree scale graduated 0 - 90 - 90 - 0 numbered by 10 divided to 1. Steel needle with brass locking bar. Two bubbles set into box with mutually perpendicular axes. Pinhole/window sights (with wire cross hairs) in brass mounted on edge of box. Brass clinometer in lid. Degree scale divided 0 - 90 numbered by 10 divided to 1 and scale of 0 - 144 inces per yard (many digits missing, scale reads 0, 4, 36, 48, 60, 7[2], 96, [1]44) read by arm with window and wire over scale. Brass bar on side of box holds lid at 90 degrees to base when open. Brass hinges and hook fasteners.
