Description Notes

Aluminium box containing mirror and compass. Compass in base with raised degree circle divided [0] - 360 numbered by 10 graduated to 1 degree. Second scale on base of compass divided 90 - 0 - 90 numbered by 10 graduated to 1. 8 points marked. Rotating Vernier scale and bubble level moved by bar underneath compass. Steel needle with locking bar and screw. Lid holds mirror with vertical diamebral line marked on it. Non-mirrored glass oval at bottom of line for sighting object. Oxidized brass sight on opposite side of compass from hinge; tip hinges separately and has pinhole sight. Base of instrument is grooved (to allow mounting on tripod (?)).
