Description Notes
Six spoked iron shod mahogany wheel with mahogany handle. Geared drive from the axle cased within forks leading to recording mechanism set below handle, under glazed cover. Brass dial plate with silvered pierced scale plate; pair of central hands the longer turning over scale of ‘Furlongs’ and ‘Poles’ calibrated 0-VIII Furlongs by I and 0-40 eight times. The shorter turns over a scale of ‘miles’; calibrated 0-50 to 1 mile. Eccentric scale and separate hand for links of a decimal Gunter chain calibrated 0-100.
