Description Notes
Brass case with domed glass top; silvered brass annulus marked with the cardinal points and degree scale divided 0 - 90˚ - 0 - 90˚ - 0, numbered by 10˚, subdivided to 1˚. Equation of time table with sections marked ‘WATCH FASTER’ and ‘WATCH SLOWER’; dial disc in silvered brass set on the compass needle; hour scale divided IIII - XII, I - VIII, numbered by I, subdivided to 10 minutes. Marked ‘LAT 51.44´’ with 8 point rose and brass gnomon for 52˚ N. Verso of disc marked to permit needle to be adjusted for magnetic variation with degree scale divided 30˚ - 0 - 30˚, numbered by 10˚, subdivided to 1˚.
Fitted wooden case covered with black shagreen and lined with red velvet and fawn silk; brass hinge and hook fasteners (one broken).
Condition of case - fair.
