Description Notes

Boxwood pillar with metal suspension hook set in turned finial. Thread attached to hook. Cylinder hollowed to take metal gnomon when not in use. Calibrated with ‘half phase’ sinusoidal hour lines divided 5 - 12, 1 - 7, numbered by 1. Date lines with named (initialled) months and marked every 10 days.

Condition: fair (wood cracked).

The latitude for this dial was re-calculated as 43˚ 06 by Paul Claracq in 2001. See letter in object history file for Wh. 1672.
