Description Notes

Gilt brass cross with suspension piece.
Obverse: engraving of Christ with the inscription ‘I.N.R.I.’ above his head. Dated 1664 at foot.
Reverse: vertical zodiac calendar lines, intersected by straight hour lines divided 1 - 12 (1-7 and 5-12), numbered by 1. Maker’s initials ‘D.P.’ atfoot. Pierced to take pin gnomon (missing).
Lines extend to sides of lower arm of cross, and are numbered down left side 7-1, 12 and at the bottom ‘So’ (?). Right side has numbers 3 and 1.
