Description Notes

Bronzed brass plate.
Obverse: shadow line with index or sight. Scale of ‘sun’s declination’ divided ‘sou: dec’ (23.5˚) - 0 - ‘nor: dec’ (23.5˚), numbered by 10˚, subdivided to 1˚. Associated calendar scale marked by month and subdivided to 5 days; vernal equinox at March 20th. The calendar scale is slit to take a cursor which is the pivot point for a thread with bead and plummet (not original). Straight hour lines divided IIII - XII, I - VIII, numbered by I, subdivided to 30 minutes; crossed by zodiac arcs, marked by symbol.
