Description Notes
Brass and silvered brass dial. Decorated square base on 3 feet. Inset compass with silvered base, 16-point rose, cardinal points marked in Latin, and magnetic variation marked approx 15˚W of N. Marked around the compass is a 32-point wind rose with fleur-de-lis for North and all points marked in German; silvered wind vane. Silvered plumb-bob on decorated gallows. Silvered cusped hour ring, divided III - XII, I - IX, numbered by I, subdivided to 30 minutes; inner rim divided 3 - 12, 1 - 9, numbered by 1. Silvered latitude arc divided [2˚] - [88˚], numbered by 10˚, subdivided to 2˚. Reverse of compass box silvered and marked ‘Elev Poli’ with a list of towns and latitudes (see history file). Diametrical bar marked ‘III’.
Card case covered with leather and lined with green silk; brass hook fastener.
