Description Notes

Decorated and pierced square brass base on 3 feet (one missing). Inset compass with silvered base and 4-point rose; cardinal points marked in Latin; magnetic variation marked at 20˚ W of N. Plumb bob with gallows in the form of an eagle. Cusped hour ring divided III - XII, I - IX, numbered by I, subdivided to 30 minutes; similarly divided on inner rim. Latitude arc divided 10˚ - 90˚, numbered by 10˚, subdivided to 1˚.
