“Fuller’s Computing Telegraph”, Interest calculator and manual by Fuller, USA, 1862 - 1865.
Hard-backed paper covered book holding the scale and pages of instruction manual. The scale is cardboard covered in varnished paper with printed circular scale. Rotatable disc set in centre of both sides of the scale with central pivoting brass pin. One side is a time telegraph for calculating weeks and months from a certain date; on the other side is a scale for calculating interest with some other information provided on capacity and area measures. On the inside cover of the book is a chart with populations of each American State and details of their slave populations. Instruction manual entiltled ‘Telegraphic computer, a most wonderful and extraordinary instrument, by which business questions of every possible variety, are instantly performed: a safe and speedy check to avoid vexatious errors, affording at the same time a greater amount of practical business knowledge, than can be obtained for ten times the cost of the work. Inside back cover is folded a table: ‘Analytical Table of Machanical Movements’.
