Description
Based in Paris, L. Hachette was a publisher who produced educational textbooks on the practical arts such as Geométrie théorique et pratique avec de nombreuses application au dessin linéaire (1848). It is possible that this set of geometrical solids accompanied a text to help illustrate diagrams or to solve mathematical exercises. Alternatively, this set could have been sold on its own to complement the private study of geometry. There are fifteen solids included in this set: octahedron; cube; segment; cone; truncated pentagonal pyramid; pentagonal pyramid; leaning pentagonal pyramid; cylinder; hexagonal prism; dodecahedron; truncated cone; truncated cylinder; cuboid; parallelepiped and leaning hexagonal prism.
