Description Notes

Gilt-brass pendulum balance; ‘pear’ shaped. Suspended from shackle. Ring bearing with hook for attachment of load. Circular end with silvered graduated scale divided 0 - 4 oz, numbered by 1/2 oz (with 1/4oz also marked) and divided 0 - 8 ‘D’ (pence) numberd by 1. Silvered counter-balanced indicator. Decorated with ‘engraved’ scrollwork. Shaped wooden box lined with purple velvet and silk, and covered with black leather.

Condition good (case poor: worn, and section broken); complete.
