Description Notes
Book/pamphlet containing four pictures, entitled ‘The Little Book of Silhouettes’, given away with The Children’s Encyclopaedia, English, 1st half 20th Century.
The book has a thin paper cover in buttermilk colour. It is torn and generally tatty. Inside opens out to show four different scenes. In each of the pictures are a number of outline figures of animals and people etc. Originally the book came with the silhouettes that filled these outlines, whoever owned this book has subsequently cut them out and stuck them in, in the correct places, as the outlines (except for the first picture) are now filled with the black silhouettes. The four picture are 1: a house and pond with garden, 2: the sea with air balloons, 3: a wood with animals playing, 4: an oriental dining room with pagoda in the backdrop. On the back cover of the book is a set of instructions for cutting out the silhouettes and pasting them to the outlines. Inside the front cover is a pencil mark for £3.
Condition: cover poor; inside fair; incomplete (figures missing from picture 1)
