Description Notes
Beam with agate centre and end-knives; circular brace with screw adjusting knob. Aluminium rider arm attached to beam divided 10-0-10, numbered by 1, subdivided to 0.2. Aluminium pointer moves over ivory scale. Two piece open work cast brass pillar on square base; plumb-bob level behind which arrest pans (LH stop not operating). Agate centre plane lifts beam off ends of semicircular support from pillar. Circular stirrup mounted pans in platinised copper: hung from straight hangers with agate planes (pans or hangers not original). Rider carrier operated from RHS. Black slate base with three brass feet, two with levelling screws. Glazed mahogany case with sliding counterpoised front and hinged doors on both sides.
