Description Notes

Wooden box with glazed top with supports for the cables.

Deptford cable has copper core coated with paper soaked in ozokerite (waste product from candle-making). Further copper layer, another paper layer and outer coating of iron.

Atlantic cable has metals cores coated in black resin. Bound with string.

Condition good; complete
