Description Notes

Black-painted cast iron (?) case set on three rubber feet. Attached to this is a specimen chamber set between metal, plastic and cardboard layers. Beyond this is black-painted white metal box which contains either the light source, the photographic film or both; three terminals on this box. On top of the main section are two dials; the larger is divided in a spiral 200 - 2000, 200 - 220 numbered by 1, 220 - 300 numbered by 2, 300 - 400 numbered by 5, 400 - 500 numbered by 10, 500 - 600 numbered by 20, 600 - 800 numbered by 25, 800 - 200 numbered by 50. Underneath this dial is a groove in which sits a pin attached to a metal rod which is fixed at one end and is also attached to a metal cable connected by a pulley system to a spring mounted on the top of the instrument. The smaller dial is divided 0 - 20, numbered by 0.1, subdivided to 0.025; 0 - 0.1 numbered 0.01, 0.02, 0.04, 0.06, 0.08 and subdivided to 0.0025. This dial has a toothed rim which turns against a cog on a vertical axis passing into the instrument.
