Description Notes

Optical apparatus devised by J.A. D’Arsonval (1851 - 1940) to enable a spectroscope to examine two sources. Lacquered brass telescopic stand with knurled tightening ring on iron trip base. Instrument is made of oxidised and lacquered brass. Spectroscope tube with slit receives light, via two horizontal tubes, from two prisms. Relative light from these is adjustable using dial (divided 0 - 80 in both directions, numbered by 10, graduated to 1) with knurled knob. Movable mirror is attached to the spectroscope end.

Condition fine; complete.
