Description Notes

Marching compass, with in-built torch, by Kelvin & Hughes, mid 20th century.

Hand-held compass on wooden handle. Metal compass with floating compass card with mirror-image markings and degree scale divided [0] - 360˚, numbered by 10˚, graduated to 2˚. Compass filled with liquid (water?) to provide bubble level. Magnifying prism adjustable by knurled screw, attached to rim of compass. Handle has plastic note-taking space. Brass switch for light which is powered by batteries stored in the handle. Screw on back of compass allows instrument to be correctly aligned in case.

Wooden box with brass handle and hinges and hook fasteners. Glazed front. Metal switch on front for turning compass light on.

Condition good (orange discharge in compass); complete
