Slit for spectroheliograph, probably by Hilger, [English], c. 1900.
Metal alloy jaws, curved and bevelled in brass slide with mounted on cast plate. Screw adjustment to slit width. Drum head divided 0 - [10] numbered by 1 graduated to 0.1. Lateral, vertical and inclinational adjustments to mount. 14 fixing screws on plate (2 missing). Department of Science and Arts logo marked SPO (for Solar Physics Observatory).
