Description Notes

Brass beam and plate with five apertures. Agate centre knife and end-knives, screw-adjustable. Silvered scale on top edge graduated [10] - 0 - [10], numbered by 1, divided to 0.2. Aluminium index screwed to base of beam moves over ivory scale. Oxidised brass pillar on circular base with double parallel beam support. Knurled brass screw in front operates arresting mechanism and raises pan-arresting plates lined with velvet. Agate centre plane. Rider bar over beam operated from right-hand side. Two stirrup-hung aluminium pans with brass double hooks mounted through brass grooved hanger with agate plane. Black glass base mounted on three feet, two of which act as levelling screws. Glazed wooden cover; hinged side door and sliding front panel. Top glass is missing.

Condition good (door detached from counterweights); incomplete (top glass plate missing).
