Description Notes

Fork level consisting of oxidised brass telescope tube with screw-fit eyepiece and objective lens (latter with cover with swing aperture control). Bubble level attached to top. Focussing knob with knurled head on one side of tube. Vertical circular silvered degree scale divided 0 - 90˚ - 0 - 90˚ - 0, numbered by 10˚, graduated to 0.5˚. With two Verniers marked A and B with magnifying lenses set above them. Clamp and tangent screw for scale.
Telescope mounted on horizontal axis which rests in forks of oxidised brass stand. Stand consists of two A-frame pillars with bubble level on one at base. Stand fixed on white metal plate (later addition).
Six brass screws.
Fitted wooden case, felt-lined with brass handle, hinges and fasteners.

Condition good (blackening of the scale, box lid cracked); complete
