Description
This pencil sketch is of Frederic Frost Blackman in his later years. Blackman (1866-1947) was a British biologist and a botanist. Born in London, he was educated first at the Barthelowmew's Hospital (BA Science) and later at the University of Cambridge (Doctor of Science), studying botany and plant science, especially photosynthesis. He was elected a fellow of the Royal Society, and a member of the board of the Cambridge Instrument Company.
