Description Notes

Double oscillograph, Irwin hot-wire type, by Robert W. Paul, c. 1910.

Rectangular brass base with three brass levelling feet. Two standards pivoted about vertical axis support two rectangular oil baths, pivoted about horizontal axis. Motions controlled with strings and screw adjustment. Oil baths have circular hole in front; three terminals on ivorine strip at tops. Opening at back of each oil bath for adding oil. Central post between oil baths supporting fixed mirror (missing).

Condition good (suspensions appear intact); incomplete (one vibrating mirror and fixed mirror missing).
