Description Notes

Electrically maintained tuning fork, by Robert Fulcher, circa 1879.

Black wooden base; tuning fork supported horizontally by its shaft on wooden block; electromagnet supported between the tines of the fork on second wooden block; platinum wire fixed to one tine of fork extends downward to surface of mercury held in glass tube supported on a brass stand; Du Bois-Reymond induction coil with secondary coil sliding on wooden track.

Condition: fine; complete (some wiring missing, no mercury present).
